Seni Thomas was born in Tokyo, Japan, and after a stint in Bali, he settled in Maui, Hawaii. Continuing his theme of island living, Seni attended NYU’s Stern School of Business on the Isle of Manhattan.
Fascinated by the economic dynamics of closed marketplaces, Seni was in the right place at the right time at an early media trading desk when advertising experienced its programmatic renaissance. Adapting
energy trading algorithms, Seni launched one of the first and largest liquidity layers for exchange-traded media, building on many of the concepts pioneered by Wall Street algo-traders to generate over $180mm in revenue.
Looking for his next opportunity, Seni was fascinated by the growth of retail trading in the US through platforms such as Robinhood and Coinbase. A natural extension of the growing embrace by U.S. consumers
for outcome-based trading led to the exploration of sports betting and gaming infrastructure.
Taking a first-principles approach to identifying the big problems in this new, growing market, Seni and his team were stunned by the inefficiencies in money movement and the current lack of scalable financial
safeguards for consumers.
These insights led to the creation of EDGE Markets.
